Remember how I broke my phone in Alaska during a run? Yeah. That was bad timing – I was on vacation!
Okay really, it’s never a good time ( or cheap) to crack your phone screen. But it’s an occupational hazard for me because I write about running for a living. This means I’m taking pictures with my phone mid-run or mid walk on a daily basis.
I keep my phone in a SpiBelt and pull it out whenever I need to snap a picture. This is a disaster waiting to happen, right?
I need to take have my phone for safety reasons when I run solo and for memory reasons during a race! This is important stuff. But, I’m all sweaty and out of breath and messing with my phone and next thing ya know it’s on the floor.
I took this picture at the Disneyland Half Marathon around mile 8.
And I actually dropped it this past weekend and cracked the screen again. UGH?!?!?!!
Note: I tried to take a picture in the mirror of my phone to show you the cracked screen, but apparently that’s not how phones work and it only took a picture of my armpit. You’re welcome.
But then, I thought, “Hello, I’m sure I’m not the only one running with my phone!”
So I agreed to work with Gorilla Glass on this post and share some info that might save your phone from the same fate. If you’re not familiar, Gorilla Glass 4 is the toughest cover glass available right now. It’s said to perform up to 2x better than competitive glass designs in devices dropped from 3 feet high.
With Gorilla Glass 4, the focus is on improving damage resistance against sharp contact, such as a drop on asphalt, concrete, and other rough surfaces (like public restroom floors?).
From their website: “The sick feeling of dropping a phone and breaking the screen is all too common. Which is why Corning’s top scientists performed thousands of hours of tests to understand how and why glass breaks when dropped. Then we developed a way to deliver dramatically improved performance against drops on rough surfaces. ”
I’m totally getting a protective cover so this doesn’t happen again (and again and again). I’m so clumsy.
Corning® Gorilla® Glass has been used on nearly 4 billion devices from 40 major brands. Is it on yours? Click here to find out
Question:How do you protect your mobile device during your workout?
How many times have you dropped your phone today?
Me: Once.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. The opinions and text are all mine.
