I’m Caving and Trying the new McDonald’s

Hello! I keep seeing the signs and commercials for McDonald’s new breakfast bowls. One commercial has a yoga instructor telling a yogi about them. So I realized Mickey D’s might be targeting my audience (you, hi). And I thought I should give them a whirl and let you know what I thought. So today I’m reviewing McDonald’s new breakfast bowls below.

But first we’re talking running and resting, not in that order. Last night I hung out on the couch with my cat. I can’t decide if he’s stealing my body heat or I’m stealing his…

This morning I hit the road for 12 miles. It was nice and cool out, perfect running weather. I sported my RockNBlog tee in honor of a discount code I have for you! Check it out below.

Okay, let’s talk McDonald’s new breakfast items… upon further research I think the new breakfast bowls are just in the LA and San Diego areas right now. So if you’re not in SoCal – have you seen them? Have you seen the commercials??

There are two options Egg White Bowl and a Chorizo Bowl. The egg white has 250 calories and 27 grams of protein, it comes with spinach. The chorizo bowl is 540 calories and 30 grams of protein, it comes with a hash brown. I ordered one of each to try both.

The egg white bowl: There are egg whites, spinach and cheese on top of a turkey sausage. It comes with a salsa you put on yourself. The salsa is super tasty and has a tiny bit of a bite (spice). I really liked it.

The chorizo breakfast bowl: There was an egg and chorizo mixture topped with cheese and a side of hash browns. It’s better than the egg white bowl (to be expected due to the higher calorie count).

I’m a volume eater so I think both bowls were a little small on their own. I assume (and might be totally wrong) that they’re both gluten free and can be dairy free if you order without cheese. They would work in a pinch, but wouldn’t be my first (or second) choice for breakfast.

Question: Are you running any RnR races?

Have you seen these new breakfast bowl ads?
