Hi! Thank you all for the suggestions on what to do about my sweaty running clothes and if I should get two hampers or what.
Some people have a hamper with multiple compartments ( I went to look for one at Target and at home goods with no luck so I might have to buy it online). Someone else said they hang their sweaty clothes on the side of the hamper for a while until tossing it all the way in. You can check out the comments on that post for more suggestions.
Remember how I mentioned that there’s a bee hive that suddenly popped up in my parents’ avocado tree?!
Even though everyone pretty much wanted them gone my family realizes that bees are important to the environment.
I feel like this is kind of funny or random at least because I don’t picture a bunch of random Mexicans (myself included) lobbying for bee rights.
Yet, for a few years now my brother has pointed out dead bees here and there. So we’ve actually talked about it a few times that it seems like bees are dying.
I’ve read about it some and heard a few news stories that have talked about ‘bee issues’.
Basically without bees the produce section of the supermarket or your local farmers market wouldn’t exist. Bees are vital for farming.
When my parents found the hive in the backyard they knew they would call a beekeeper to take it away somewhere where they could hang out and live their little bee lives.
Unfortunately it turns out that these were African bees. A beekeeper came to remove them and told my parents that these beasts are highly aggressive and could potentially attack a person or the dogs.
I don’t know exactly what he did to get rid of them but everyone was advised to stay out of the area for 5 hours and to keep the dogs away from the area for five hours as well.
It sucks, but given the fact that my family lives there and all of our neighbors have dogs and there’s a school just right down the street it’s really scary to think that there would be aggressive bees like that around people and pets.

The bee situation reminded me that I needed to get faster because I’m always getting stung lately and maybe if I was able to run away from them they wouldn’t bite me!
This morning I ran 5 miles. Then I did 10 x 100 meter strides. I tried to channel my inner Usain Bolt … but instead of a lightning bolt I was more like the slow thundercloud full of raindrops.
To run the hundred meters I just stopped my watch exactly at 5 miles and then ran the first hundred keeping an eye on where I started and stopped. Then I used to go to points of reference for the rest of the run.
In between strides I gave myself maybe 10 to 20 seconds to catch my breath and then did it again.
Breakfast with an amazing bagel sandwich. I normally don’t make such appetizing meals in the morning but I felt like some of the ingredients were about to go bad and I had to use them up.
So I got a little fancy with it…
There are so many Sriracha snacks and food out on the market now! I spotted the Sriracha Triscuits at the pantry.
I tried this bag of sriracha popcorn last night. It was an impulse buy because I was hungry. It happens.
I made Sriracha Popcorn at home a while back and that was pretty good too! Fresher is better!!
30 day yoga challenge update
Okay I have to confess that I missed yoga yesterday because I went out to dinner and didn’t get home until super late.
The first week I did it in the morning right after running. But this last week I’ve been doing it in the evening to help me wind down.
Since I missed it yesterday I did it right after my run today. A small part of me is glad I have it crossed off my to-do list for the day but I think I do really enjoy doing it in the evening. I just feel so calm after it’s easier to sit down and relax while watching the Olympics.
Speaking of that – I have been so busy today I have no idea what’s been going on in Rio!!
I’ve got to catch up. Talk to you later!
Question: Do you completely freak out when a bee gets near you?
