An Old Cookbook…

Hello from Florida! This morning the weather was spectacular (for FL) – cool and a little overcast at around 75 degrees. That’s the best I can ask for around here, so I’ll enjoy it!

I really did enjoy my run this morning because I saw a manatee!!! If you know me at all you might suspect I have unhealthy obsessions with certain things… running, watermelon, trash TV and MANATEES. I love them.

So I always walk when I pass waterways or over bridges to see if I can spot a manatee. Considering I’ve been to this lil gulf coast city so much I rarely see one so I don’t get my hopes up. But today I saw the circular pattern in the water of a manatee that had just went down under and waited…

I love him.

When I got back I ate oatmeal and a bunch of watermelon and grapes.

I also had some quiche that Ben’s mom made. She was gone when I got back but I spotted a cookbook book open to the recipe.

This cookbook is obviously old and doesn’t have the cover anymore so I don’t know the title of it, but it’s kind of the cutest thing. The recipes are all credited to women under their married names – which I never never see. It’s from a very different time for sure.

I rarely use cookbooks and usually get recipe ideas from other blogs or websites or the Food Network. Also, a big majority of the things I make are from foods I have known how to cook for a long time either from family or friends – I think that makes up a majority of my cooking.

But I have been thinking about buying  a vegetarian cookbook just to flip through to be inspiration and ideas so I can change my diet to a more meatless one (or less meatfull one?).

Anyway. I looked on Amazon and the site told me I have already bought Peas and Thank You years ago! Ha! I totally forgot.

I guess I should bust it out and start cookin’!

Question: Where do you find recipes? Do you try to make new things or just cook what you know?
