Hi, friends!
Our little family enjoyed our last day of summer vacation with a visit to Hornstra Dairy Farm!
Hornstra Farm has a farm storm, which is open year-round. Inside is all sorts of fresh produce, baked goods, and dairy products, which are also offered on their home delivery trucks. Yep, that’s right. Hornstra Farm delivers their products, including milk in glass bottles, right to your home and it’s actually not that expensive. There’s just a 4-product minimum + $1.75 delivery fee, so it’s actually quite affordable. The gallons of milk are the same price as the organic ones at Trader Joe’s ($5.99), but they are fresh and not ultra-pasteurized. We’re thinking about giving the home delivery a try. How fun would that be?!
Fun fact (that I don’t think I ever shared on CNC?): My great-grandfather was a dairy farmer. He owned Dell Dale Farm in Littleton, Massachusetts for many decades, and my mom, sister, and I lived there until the early 90s. I still remember the milk in glass bottles. The chocolate was my favorite. (My mom told me “chocolate” cows made it.) I also remember the baby cows and barn cats, which, of course, my sister and I were obsessed with.
And, apparently, my love for animals has rubbed off on my son. He LOVED(!!!) the cows at Hornstra Farms!
This picture kills me! Haha!
Cow kiss!
The farm also serves handcrafted ice creams, so, obviously, we had to get some. When it comes to ice cream, I usually stick to my favorite flavor (Almond Joy), but I branched out a little yesterday and ordered a caramel-coconut-chocolate chip flavor (sorry, I forget the name), and it was delicious!
Mal and I both shared our ice cream with our little monkey. He was a big fan and kept saying “mmm” after each bite. It was so cute.
Quinn recently learned who Dada, Mama, Quinn, and Murphy are and points to each us, so he’s pointing to Mama in the photo below. Related: Quinn pointing to himself is so adorable. He doesn’t straighten his finger all the way, so it’s sort of like a hook finger and then he pushes it into his chest. So cute.
Hornstra Farm was such an adorable place, and I’m so glad we had a chance to visit. We’ll definitely be back!
